How to get there

How to get from Pisa Airport to the city center

Pisa International Airport (Aeroporto Internazionale di Pisa) is named after the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei and is located just 5 kilometers from the city center. You can get there by train or taxi.

Today, Pisa Victory and S7 Airlines operate direct flights to Pisa Airport from Moscow - ticket prices are significantly lower than, for example, to Rome, so you should consider the option of arriving in this city. From Pisa you can easily get to Rome (see instructions), as well as to Florence, Siena, Arezzo and La Spezia. In the article we will consider in detail all the options.

There are special trains to the center of Pisa from the airport, but you can also take a taxi, which will immediately take you to the hotel.

By train

Traveling only 6 minutes by train from the airport to Pisa Central Station (Pisa Centrale) will especially appeal to children, as there are no drivers in modern Pisa-mover shuttles. Trains are fully robotic, with large panoramic windows that run every 15 minutes from 4:30 a.m. to 01:30 a.m.

A one-way ticket costs only 2.7 euros and is bought at a kiosk directly at the airport or in a special machine next to the peron.

By taxi

The cost of a taxi ride from Pisa airport is fixed, but depends on the destination. Stazione di Pisa Centrale costs 9 euros, and Piazza del Duomo costs 12 euros.

It is worth considering the extra payments on weekends - plus 2.60 euros, for each piece of luggage 0.65 euros.

Alone by car

Right at the airport, you can pick up a pre-rented car and go on your own journey through the small, fabulous cities of Italy. For example, a Volkswagen Polo class car will cost you only 230 euros for 10 days - it is much more profitable, faster and more interesting than traveling by public transport between small cities.

I advise you to choose suppliers with a rating of 8 or higher. Find car rental tips in Italy at auto.italy4.me

From Pisa Airport to Florence (Firenze) can be reached by direct bus for 14 euros, taxis for 160 euros or trains for 11.30 euros with a change to Pisa Centrale. Travel time is about one and a half hours - see detailed instructions.

Ticket price is only 2.60 euros, travel time is 15 minutes. You can get from the station to the port by city buses of the red LAM ROSSA or the blue LAM BLU line.
