A bit of history. The column was erected in memory of the victories of Prussia in several wars by decree of William I. The opening took place on September 2, 1873. To climb to the observation deck, you need to pay 3 euros and walk up to a height of 48 m, because no elevator. But you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Berlin. And here is the main panoramic view to the city center, for the sake of which everything was started. Here it is - the last airdrome of the Third Reich, which was supposed to become, by the design of Albert Speer, the chief architect, even before the war. And the column played the role of an aerodrome control tower. The Führer was to be evacuated from here. The last departure from this airfield took place on April 28, 1945, and the Luftwaffe Robert von Greim was taken out by the Commander-in-Chief. The pilot was Hannah Reitsch the best aviator in Germany.
